That's why I was thinking the Weber 12F150, 30 watt, light doping. If you stick some high wattage speaker in there its never going to saturate properly and likely be too stiff for an open backed combo. I'd go with a speaker closer to the amps wattage too. If you go Celestion, I'd stick with something like a Creamback which has a wider flatter frequency response more suitable to an ampeg's tone stacks. Ampeg did switch to Eminace speakers during the 70's and that were a great match for those amps. A British speaker like a green back would mute the tones too much. They have an SPL over 100dB which would make those amps smoke. I'd likely stick with something made by Eminance like a Legend, Patriot. Ampeg's have a distinctively American tone. The choice of speaker tone would be your main concern. If it sounds good and meets your needs go ahead and use it but you can get a huge bang out of high SPL speaker, even doubling the amps volume. Unlike what many think, speakers don't get better with age. The original Jensen's from that era were fairly low SPL and they quality was all over the board. Any original power caps on an amp that old most definitely need to be replaced. If you aren't sure of the condition, I'd definitely look at getting good tubes and making sure the power caps are good. I loves the tone they produced but they were always a weak amp playing with drummers, especially during the 70's when most plyers using 50W amps. There were plenty of them around when I was growing up, those and the Gemini's.
